This traveling exhibition is inspired by the 17th century travelogue of sailor Jan Struyss’. It offers transcultural views on travel and investigates changing historical perspectives.
Drawing on carthography, the design features three-dimensional position markers, that display the artwork’s titles and authors. This typographic solution is adaptable to the multiple venues the exhibition will visit.
Spreads from the original manuscript are added as a light grid on the floor. These lenticulars reveal two opposite perspectives – to point out the subjectivity inherent in personal reporting.
Elements from the three-dimensional design return in the catalogue.
